Mrs. Michele Kalo

Subject: Band/Beginning Guitar
Room: 215

Welcome to the Spartan Bands and Beginning Guitar!

A little about me:

Mrs Kalo knew her passion was to teach music in the 7th grade. Fulfilling this passion, Kalo has been in public education since 1998, teaching band in grades 5-12 in the Detroit Metropolitan Area for five years and in Arizona since 2003. She is currently Director of Bands at Gilbert Classical Academy, is an adjunct faculty member at Scottsdale Community College and maintains a private high brass studio. Michele is also an active adjudicator and clinician for ABODA and AMEA. In 2014, she was the North Central Region Band Clinician as well as the 7th Grade All-State Band Clinician. She also clinics and arranges music for local high schools for both marching and concert bands. She always makes time to write for and perform her Horn with the Salt River Brass.

In 2011, Mrs. Kalo became the Music Director of the Scottsdale Concert Band at Scottsdale Community College. She is only the band's third conductor in its 40 year history. The band currently has over 60 members.

Mrs. Kalo earned her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Bowling Green State University and completed her Master's Degree in Music Education from Arizona State University in 2007.
When not engaged in something musical, you can find Mrs. Kalo hiking a mountain or holding a yoga pose.
