GCA News


Congratulations go to Samantha Merrow, Senior, who recently was accepted as a lab research assistant at Barrow Neurological Institute.  She will be working under the direction of Dr.Tomoki Hashimoto studying intracranial aneurysm development.  This selective lab assistant position is highly sought after and has a rigorous application process.

Congratulations to Greyson Henry, Junior, who has been chosen for the highly selective University of Arizona KEYS internship program this summer.  Over the intensive 7 week - 40 hour per week internship, Greyson will reside at U of A and work side by side with prominent U of A researchers.  His focus will be molecular and cellular biology and pharmacology.

GCA YearbookAttention all GCA students.  If you have not bought a yearbook yet, you have until April 19th to order one. The cost is $65.00. You can order a yearbook in the Cybrary, online through the parent portal or through jostensyearbooks.com. There will NOT be any yearbooks for sale at the end of the year so hurry and order yours today!

2020 Italy/Greece Trip - Mrs. Kalkman is pleased to announce information regarding our GCA 2020 trip to Italy and Greece. This trip will be open to all GCA students in their sophomore or junior year at the time of the trip, Spring Break 2020.

Mrs. Kalkman will hold an informational meeting Monday, March 4th at 6:00 in the GCA cafeteria. At this time she will cover the trip itinerary, costs involved, tax credits and trip registration procedures. All information will be available on the GCA website under the heading Activities/Clubs.


High School Spring Formal is this Saturday, February 23rd-Tickets $10 now available in the Cybrary

February 1 - 22 - Penny Wars Fundraiser for the Phoenix Leukemia Foundation sponsored by the Student Wellness Committee. Competition between legions who can score most points. Bring in loose change to add to your donation boxes located in your legion classroom. Pennies are worth 2 points and Bills are worth 100 points (500 points for $5, etc) for your legion. SILVER COINS, like nickels and dimes, are worth -1 and -2 points respectively for opposing legions, as you could put silver coins in a rival legion's box!
The winner of this event, the legion with the most points, wins an Olive Garden party, and the top 6 legions receive ARMAGEDDON POINTS! 


Congratulations go out to our Junior High Chess Team for winning the Gilbert Public Schools district championship for the third straight year! 

Varsity Basketball - Justice Turley and Jake Klingler made it in the AZ Republic News Paper. They were recognized for their game performances in basketball this past week. Jake Klinger averaged 28 pts, 6 rebounds and 4 steals per game in the tournament. Justice Turley had 5 three-pointers in the championship game. Way to go!
